An exhibition in Firostephani shows the original frescoes found in prehistoric Thera. Thick layers of volcanic deposits from the eruption nearly 3500 years ago preserved an entire village and the frescoes on display are in astonishingly good condition. There is also a small photographic documentary about the excavations. Only a short idyllic walk away along the caldera this is the perfect short trip to get a small sample of the cultural and archaeological heritage of Santorini.
